Louise B. Oppermann of San Antonio was welcomed into Heaven on November 30, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on August 12, 1932 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Herbert Harrison Simpson Sr. and Mada Mildred Mason Simpson. She graduated from Carthage High School in 1951 and later attended the University of Houston. Louise worked in Houston's oil and gas industry for 25 years before retiring in 1993. She was passionate about the arts and led tours of The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as a docent. Her faith was also an essential part of her life and she belonged to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston for 24 years. Upon moving to San Antonio in 2008, she joined Northwest Hills United Methodist Church and became an active member. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and husband. She is survived by her son, daughter, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, Christian, neighbor and friend and will be missed by all who loved her.
A memorial service celebrating Louise's life will take place on December 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary West, 1710 W. Loop 1604 N. San Antonio, TX 78251 (followed by a reception at the funeral home). Rev. Dr. J. David Trawick will officiate. Burial will be in Carthage, Texas on December 15, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to: Northwest Hills United Methodist Church, 7575 Tezel Rd, San Antonio, TX 78250.
