Louise Marie Mello January 16, 1931 - June 1, 2022 Atwater, California - Louise M. Mello January 16, 1931 – June 1, 2022 Louise Marie Mello a lifelong resident of Atwater passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, in Merced with her family by her side. Louise was born January 16, 1931, in Atwater to Joseph and Louise Dias. She attended local schools. On February 7, 1948, she married Art Mello and they were together over 60 years before his passing. Louise was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters of America. In her leisure time she enjoyed puzzles, playing checkers, watching game shows & Judge shows and sitting by her window looking out at the birds and her beautiful flowers. For Louise family always came first. She loved having everyone over to her home for dinners, parties and visits. She so enjoyed that everyone referred to her as Nana. She is survived by her daughter, Lena Mendoza (Rene) of Atwater, her grandchildren, Rene Joseph Mendoza, II (Grace) of Fresno, Kristina Garcia (Paul) of Texas and her great-granddaughter Kaitlynn Garcia of Texas. She also leaves behind her brother Joe Dias (Myrna), and her best friend Mary Bowman of Washington as well as many nieces and nephews. Louise was preceded in death by her husband Art Mello in 2008, her son, Father Bert Mello in 2018, and her siblings; Tom Dias, Mary Silva, Helen Fulton, Carmel Ferreria, and Agnes Tacheria. A Rosary will be recited for Louise on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 9:30am at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Atwater. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00am. Burial will take place at Winton District Cemetery, Winton, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Anthony Catholic School, 1801 Winton Way, Atwater, CA 95301. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Wilson Family Funeral Chapel.
