How do you know Louise? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Louise Johnson passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, the 27th of August 2024, just a month short of her 89th birthday. She was born to Gus and Mary Menke Zimmer on September 29, 1935, in her great grandparents' home.
In her early years, she proudly carried her miniature suitcase from house to house for frequent sleepovers with various relatives and family friends, leading her to title her unpublished childhood memoirs "I Slept Around." This connection to family and place continued as an avid interest in family genealogy. Her lifelong love of animals resulted in countless dogs and cats?and even a baby skunk?taken into her own unofficial sanctuary. She will also be remembered for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
Louise is survived by her husband Kenneth Johnson; her three children Keith (Donna) of Victoria, Kimberly (Glen) of Brenham, Stuart (Dawn) of Kingsland; three grandchildren Natalie Hughes, Caleb Hughes (Brittany), and Ryne Johnson; and three great grandchildren Kade Hughes, Hayes Hughes, and Oaklyn Hughes. She is also survived by her sister Janice Bittlebrun and brother John (Diana) Zimmer of Victoria, many nephews and nieces.
Louise is predeceased by brother-in-law Paul Bittlebrun, parents G.A. and Mary Menke Zimmer, and grandparents John and Louisa Dietzel Zimmer and Henry and Natalia Siems Menke.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home 2401 Houston Hwy., in Victoria, Texas. Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church with a burial to follow at Coletoville Cemetery.
