Louise Jeannette (D'Amour) Tanguay, 80, of Manchester, died peacefully on July 4, 2021, at Community Hospice House, Merrimack, with her beloved family by her side.
Born in Manchester on October 22, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Grace (Duval) D'Amour. She was a graduate of Manchester High School West, class of 1958 and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. Louise worked in the accounting department at NE Telephone for 25 years, retiring in 1991. She then worked part time as a bookkeeper at Ethan Allen for 18 years before her final retirement in 2009. She married the love of her life, Richard W. Tanguay who passed in 2019, and was anxious to be reunited with him, after 48 years of marriage. Together they dedicated their lives to raising their family of 7.
Louise was an amazing woman who loved life and loved people, especially her children. She was a natural caregiver. Being a hospice volunteer for over 20 years, she cared for her hospice patients with so much love and kindness. She was also a nursing home volunteer and loved to bring joy to the residents by having tea parties with her best china, lace tablecloth and homemade scones. Louise also volunteered at the Mom's Place at CMC for new mothers. She would spend time reading to patients at Easter Seals, always choosing special stories from Chicken Soup for the Soul. She loved cake decorating, playing scrabble, reading, word puzzles, gym days, long walks, traveling, going to Massabesic Lake, watching the ducks, spending time at the beach and eating ice cream!
Louise was well loved by all who knew her. She was the center of her family and was a blessing to all. Despite her diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, she was very strong and had a positive attitude. Louise's smile, generosity, kind heart and spirit, and endless hugs are what we will all remember.
Above all else, she will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and friend.
Surviving family members include her four children, Susan Blevins and husband Scott of Manchester, Patricia Vaillancourt of Manchester, David Boufford of Long Beach, CA, and Debbie Wilson and husband Jay of Costa Mesa, CA; her three step children, Diane Leavitt and husband Mike of Hollis, Denise Dingman and husband Mark of Lunenberg, VT, and Debra Winslow and husband Rich of Milford, ; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard D'Amour and wife Lois of Manchester, and Danny D'Amour and wife Maddy of Goffstown; and her extended family of many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved "Louise the Breeze". She was also predeceased by both parents; and brother Ronald D'Amour and wife Pauline. Her family would like to thank all the loving caregivers and the Community Hospice House that were part of "Team Louise".
