Louise Craig Carpenter, 95, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of George Arthur Carpenter, Sr. entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 2, 2021. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 in Saint James Church, 1872 Camp Road at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 5, 2021 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Louise was born August 4, 1926 in Ashtabula, Ohio, daughter of the late David Hatfield Craig and Aura Louisa Eversole Craig. She was a graduate of Chicora High School and retired from MUSC. Louise was a member of the Does, the James Island Yacht Club Auxiliary and served as a volunteer with Tricounty Ministries. She attended the Church of the Good Shepherd and was a member of Saint James Church.
Louise is survived by her son, Craig A. Carpenter (Laneda) of Whitehall, MT; daughter, Lou Ellen Carpenter Vella (Jarrett) of Charleston, SC; daughter-in-law, Yoko Noda of Tokyo, Japan; three grandchildren: Jarrett Vella, Jr. (Jay), Daniel Vella (Liz) and Andy Vella (Logan); and two great-grandchildren: Henley Vella and Virginia Vella.
Louise was predeceased by her son, George A. Carpenter, Jr.; sisters, Catherine Hoppmann, Jeanette Mellard and Patricia Moyer.
