Louis Angelo Mongelluzzo will always be remembered for his passion for life, generosity, and love of his family.
Louis Angelo Mongelluzzo, age 82, of Pinehurst, NC passed away at home on May 25, 2024. Louis was born in Allegheny, PA, on August 21, 1941, to Louis Mongelluzzo and Margaret Keegan. louis was brought up in a hard-working small town, Donora PA, where families of many different ethnic backgrounds found work at the local steel mill. Lou's father was of Italian descent and his mother Irish Catholic and one of fifteen children. Lou would often comment there was a different church on every corner but together formed a cohesive community. Louis joined the US Navy, serving on the Thomas Edisson and Francis Scot Key, Nuclear Submarines Sonar Navigation Division in its Blue Crew. Louis was stationed in Glasgow Scotland where he met his wife at a club when she took a chance and danced with a yank. Ann gave birth at Groton Connecticut Naval Base to the couple's only child, a daughter. After an honorably discharged Louis was hired by General Electric Oceanic Division of Military Defense in Syracuse N.Y. and retired after 25 years. . Lou brought the same attention to detail to his passion of everything culinary. He was an excellent cook an experience he often enjoyed with family and friends. Louis was an active lifelong member of the Liverpool Elks Lodge, volunteering in the kitchen at various events as well as serving as a past president.
After retiring from Lockheed Martin, he followed the sun to Pinehurst N.C. Lou was a member of a Men's league that played twice a week in which Louis walked the course and carry his own bag 18 holes up until the week he passed. Lou touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by Louise Ann Mongelluzzo, daughter and Keith Greene, Jean, sister, Rocky and Amanda Roberts, Family of Richard Mongelluzzo, cousins. Preceded in Death Louis Mongelluzzo, Father, Margaret Keegan, Mother Erica Andrea Mongelluzzo, Grandaughter, Ann Mongelluzzo, wife, Kathy Mongelluzzo, cousin.
