Louis Francis Mancuso, Sr., 'Pop', 73 of Betterton, MD passed away on April 4, 2021 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
Pop was born on March 8, 1948 in Parkville, MD, son of the late Louis F.X. and Anne Brady Mancuso. He was raised in Parkville, where he graduated high school, attended college and served his country in the U.S. ARMY from 1969-1972. He then joined the U.S. NAVY reserves and was honorably discharged in 1983. In 1975 he began his career with the Baltimore County fire department as a fire fighter, paramedic/tillerman, stationed at Towson Station #1. During his time in the department, he helped form the honor guard along with many other achievements. Unfortunately, in 1982 he suffered what would become a career ending injury, before retirement he served in the fire investigation and prevention division for the department. In 1985 after fully retiring from the fire department he and his wife along with there three children moved to Kent county and resided in the town of Betterton. He began his second career for what is known now as a Dispatcher for emergency services. He served from 1985 into early 2000's, he really enjoyed his time and made many friends while being a Dispatcher.
Pop enjoyed riding his Harley and his membership with the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. He also volunteered with the Chester River Keepers association. After retirement he enjoyed time with his family and grandchildren.
Pop is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda 'Lynn' Still Mancuso, children, Louis F. Mancuso, Jr, (Jenny) their children, Damien, Ryan, Hayden and Mia; Carrie Pletzer (Peter) their children, Brittany, Stephanie, Dominic, Desi, Ashley and Lucas; John Stansbury (Alicia) their child Shawn; Mandy Worth, her children, RJ and Makayla; Dawn Mancuso-Aye and her children, Lea, Becca, Justin, Stephanie and Johnny and Robert 'Buddy' Stoops (Haley) and their son Grant; dear family friend, Amanda Collins Clark and 2 brothers, Patrick Mancuso and Robert Mancuso, as well as nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 8 from 10 am to noon in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. Burial will be held privately in Still Pond Cemetery. A gathering will be held at 1:30 pm at the Betterton Fire Company for all who would like to attend.
Memorials may be offered to the Baltimore County Fallen Firefighters.
