Louis Jerome Fabbri was born June 5, 1939 in Masontown, Pennsylvania. He was the third eldest of seven children, and the oldest son of Louis Joseph Fabbri and Sophia Madaline Lukosky. He attended St Joseph Catholic School and was known to be a precocious child. At the age of eight, Lou started working in the Pennsylvania steel mills. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy and served honorably aboard the U.S.S. Liddle. He was on the ship when it was off the coast of Cuba during the Bay of Pigs in 1961.
After leaving the Navy, Lou was a member of a traveling acting troupe that performed "The Passion of The Christ" throughout the United States. In 1963, he began working at Delta Airlines as a line agent and was chosen for an apprenticeship to become a mechanic. Lou worked at Delta for more than 29 years and retired as a quality control inspector in 1993. He earned his private pilot's license May 1987 and after his retirement from Delta, he opened Bear Creek Aviation as a small general aviation mechanic. When he closed the business, he became licensed as an Airworthiness Inspector where he signed off on numerous aircraft. There wasn't a machine made that he couldn't repair. Lou has lovingly been called "MacGyver" and "Our Renaissance Man."
On October 31, 1964, at the age of 25, Lou married Nancy Lord Williams in Clayton County, GA. They had six children. As his family grew, he designed and built his own home. He was a strong believer in the Lord as a child, and became a central force in everything he did throughout his life. He was very active at Griffin First Assembly. He volunteered much of his time to serve the community. Lou was President of the Lake Cindy Civic Club for many years. He would always take time to listen and minister to any stranger he met on the street. He was part of many Bible studies, and prayed strongly every day for his family, friends, neighborhood, country, and world.
Lou and his wife helped fund the growth of Griffin Christian Academy where his children attended school. In order to attend the numerous sporting events of his six children, he volunteered to drive the bus and keep score books. He wanted to ensure that he was at every game. The Fabbri's traveled all over the world, and always took their gaggle of children with them. In 2005, Lou and Nancy went on an incredible adventure and flew from Hampton, Georgia to Anchorage, Alaska and back to Hampton in a two-seater 1940 J-3 Pipercub. When they returned home, they wrote a wonderful book about their travels, "From Here to There." Lou was a loving, merciful, gentle, loyal, and forgiving man who loved his family, friends, God, and country.
Lou is survived by his children and their families: Louis Fabbri, Jr and Michele Barrett, Matthew and Stefka Fabbri, Gabriel and Lucy Fabbri, Christina and Richard Robertson, John and Jennifer Fabbri, and Rebecca and Jonathan Spahos. He is loved and missed by his nine grandchildren: Kylie Barrett, Steven Barrett, Mia Fabbri, Isabella Fabbri, Emmaline Fabbri, Ava Robertson, Andrew Fabbri, Samuel Spahos, and Sophie Spahos.
