Louis Thomas Dent III, was born January 11, 1937 to Louis Thomas Dent Jr. and Eliza Jefferson Dent in Lusby, Calvert County, Maryland. He attended and graduated from W. Sampson Brooks High School with honors with an interest in mathematics and chemistry. Later, he moved to Baltimore to live with his aunt and uncle, Rosetta and Wilbur Butler, to attend John Hopkins University where he studied chemistry.
He met the girl next door, Catherine Jones, the love of his life. They were wed on September 8, 1962. And from this union a daughter, Tracey Dent, was born.
He worked for over 50 years at Cello Chemical Company/Sherwin-Williams as a chemist and plant manager. After retiring, he spent time traveling and living a simple life. Louis enjoyed many sports, baseball and football being his passion, with the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens as his favorite teams. Many years later he became ill and spent several years as a resident at Sunrise Assisted Living Facility in Columbia, Maryland.
Those honoring his memory and celebrating his life are his life-long partner and beloved wife, Catherine; loving and devoted daughter, Tracey; three sisters, Rosetta Johnson, Eileen Dent, and Sandra Jones; two brothers, Dean Dent and Edmund Dent; two brothers-in-law, Roland Johnson and Charles Jones; three sisters-in law, Anita Dent, Patsy Dent, and Jackye Malloy-Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. And his cousin, who he loved as a sister, Eliza Foote.
Service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, 12500 State Route 108, Clarksburg, MD at 11am. Care entrusted to SNOWDEN FUNERAL HOME. www.snowdencares.com
