Louella Cromer Crouch, 92 of Saluda, widow of John David Crouch, went to join her Lord and Savior on 26 August 2024. She passed away with friends and family by her side at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born on April 20th, 1932, Louella was the daughter of the late Henry Cromer Sr and Eliza Riley Cromer. She was a graduate of Hollywood High School. She was also a member of the Hollywood High School State Championship Basketball teams for the years of 1947, 1948 and 1949.
After high school, she married her love, John Crouch. They were happily married for 64 years. She retired from the Saluda Shirt Plant. She also later retired from Hollywood School as a school bus driver and a cafeteria worker. In addition, she worked in the cafeteria at the Saluda Nursing Center.
She was a member of Bethany Methodist Church, Bethany UMW, Antique Teenagers and Woodmen Life. She was a dedicated Hollywood Ruritan wife and devoted 4-H volunteer leader. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and baking and working in everyone's garden in addition to her own.
Survived by Sue Nell Crouch Rodgers, of Batesburg, John "Little John" (Joyce) Crouch, Earl (Sherry) Crouch and Robert (Angela N.) Crouch all of Saluda; six grandchildren: Stephanie Senn, Jason Rodgers, Krista Hallback, Melinda (Will) Forrest, Marshall (Amanda) Crouch and Michelle (Joey) Miller; seven great grandchildren: Bailey Crouch, Cade, Ava, Finley, Mila Forrest, Skylar Hallback, Tyson Miller and her sister-in-law Mary Berry. Also, six special nieces and nephews: Jinx Myers, Candi Hardison, Perry Cromer, Joann Cromer, Richard Cromer and Hal Cromer.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by infant son Morris David Crouch, son-in-law Larry Rodgers, granddaughter Tonia Denise Rodgers and three brothers Jasper Cromer, Ronald Cromer and Henry Cromer Jr.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Ramey Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Bethany Methodist Church on Thursday, August 29, at 11:00 am with the Rev. Mark English and Rev. Dan Bradley presiding. Visitation will follow the services in the fellowship hall.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Saluda Nursing Center staff for their compassionate care given to our mother. A special thanks to the family physician Ralph N. Riley.
