Three weeks before her 92nd birthday, Lorraine Louise Wizieck passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Lorraine was born in Michigan City, IN, where she resided and graduated from Michigan City Elston High School. She married Eugene John Wizieck, who preceded her in death after 64 years of marriage. She was also preceded by two sisters and a brother.
The family moved to South Bend, and Lorraine became a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Parish, where she remained for the past 59 years. She enjoyed the long-lasting friendships with those in Michigan City as well as South Bend. She and her husband both enjoyed traveling to visit families and friends and made many long drives to Virginia and Canada to see their grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Lorraine spent most of her employment years at St. Joseph Hospital, South Bend, where she worked in various positions including secretary to the Director of Medical Education. Subsequently, she followed a few physicians to serve as secretary / receptionist.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Susan (Roger) of Winnipeg, Canada; two sons, John of Norfolk, VA, and Paul of South Bend; and six grandchildren; as well as four great-grandchildren.
The family would like to share their appreciation for the companionship of the Sanctuary at St. Paul community for the past seven years as well as the care from doctors and staff at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center during her brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Parish, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN. Graveside services and inurnment will follow at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, IN. Friends may visit with the family for one hour prior to mass on Tuesday in the church. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Lorraine may be donated the charity of the donor's choice.
