Lorraine D. Weber, age 93, died at Hope West Hospice Center after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Belvidere, Illinois on October 3, 1927 to Alice Catherine Christiansen and Christian Nelson Hall. She was united in marriage to James C. Weber on November 27, 1948. From this union were Steven (April 13, 1950), and Thomas (August 31, 1952). Lorraine lived in three of Colorado's most beautiful places: Steamboat Lake, Durango, and Grand Junction.
She was a beautician and homemaker, active with scouting, was a voting precinct judge, crafts, knitting, crocheting, gardening, traveling, stamp collecting and reading. Lorraine dearly loved her many cocker spaniels and rescue dogs.
Lorraine joined the near-by Crossroads United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women soon after moving to Grand Junction and was a faithful church member from then on. She made crafts for the bazaar, volunteered in the office, and gave people rides to church. She loved her church family and was the un-official greeter every Sunday. Anyone who ever crossed CUMC's threshold was given a warm welcome by Lorraine. We will miss her infectious laugh and the remnants of her warm Northern Illinois accent.
"Thank you so much to all my church family, friends and neighbors who have been so wonderful to me during these last years. I don't know what I would have done without you - especially my next door neighbor, George, the Mexican Train Dominoes group, Myra and Kathy."
She is survived by her sons; step grandchildren; and numerous cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, James C. Weber; sister, Mildred; and neighbor Sandy Hanink.
Services were held at Crossroads United Methodist Church with Rev. Alane Currier Griggs officiating. The link to the video recording of the service can be found on their website: crossroadsgj.org
