Lorraine A. Kenny Lanphere of Oakes, ND passed away January 1, 2025 at the Oakes Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND.
Lorraine Agnes Lacher, daughter of Wendell and Agnes (Biegler) Lacher was born November 3, 1935 in Aberdeen, SD. Lorrine grew up on the family farm near Mina Lake. It was her job to gather the eggs.
The family moved to Aberdeen when Lorraine was about 14 years old. She lived there with her parents until she married Robert Kenny on March 31, 1956 in Houghton, SD. To this union 8 children were born.
When Robert and Lorraine divorced after many years of marriage she moved to Oakes, ND and began a career as a certified nursing assistant at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center. Lorrine was employed at the center for 22 years. She loved her job being a caregiver and that love was returned to her from all the people she cared for.
During this time, she met the love of her life, Lloyd Lanphere. After a long courtship they were married on September 12, 1997. Lorraine and Lloyd loved each other deeply and cherished their time together. Lloyd passed away in April of 2003. Lorraine remained in Oakes after Lloyd's death until her retirement. She retired at the age of 74 and then moved to Aberdeen to live with her daughter. She resided there until moving to the Good Samaritan Society in Oakes in 2023.
Lorraine loved life, she loved animals, traveling, dancing, spending time with her family and friends and she loved to crochet. She had a deep love for her children and loved having them nearby. She always said that she was happiest when her house was full of her children and their dogs.
Those who were blessed to share her life: Cheryl (Charles) Swanson, Douglas (Cindy) Kenny, Bruce Kenny, Vicki Parks, Carol (Shane) Cawood, Michelle (Jamey) Franz, Robert Kenny Jr. and Tanya Kenny. Former son-in-law Allan Guscott and former daughter-in-law Sarah Romeo. Grandchildren: Cory Kenny, Ryan (Alexandra) Kenny, Kyle Parks, Kadin Parks, Nicole Guscott, Rhys Guscott, Emily Guscott and Gareth Guscott. Great-grandchildren: Mikah Kenny, Krew Kenny, Cayde Kenny and Casey Guscott.
She was preceded in death by her parents Wendell and Agnes Lacher, her sister LaVere Kallas and her daughter Vicki Parks.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, SD. Lorraine's service will be live streamed on the Dahlstrom Funeral Home website www.dahlstromfuneralhome.com on her obituary page.
