Lorraine M. Howe, 89, died Friday, July 31, 2020 at her home in Claremont, NH, surrounded by her family. Lorraine was born June 21, 1931 in Bethel, VT a daughter of Frank and Ruth (Pike) Hood. She attended the Waitsfield schools and was married to Fred C. Howe March 13, 1948. Lorraine was a hard worker and worked may jobs caring for children, working at College Cleaners in Woodstock, VT, Woodstock Pharmacy, the Piccadilly Deli in South Royalton, VT, Sharon Trading Post, Price Chopper in West Lebanon, NH and most recently in housekeeping at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center until she had to retire due to her health. She was married to Rodney Smith in 2002 and they later divorced. Lorraine enjoyed Knitting, Crochet, cooking, baking and baseball especially the Red Sox, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her first husband Fred Howe in 1996; two sons Fred Howe, Jr and Timothy Howe. Lorraine is survived by three sons, Ronald Howe of Post Mills, VT, Michael Howe of Briantree, VT and Patrick Howe of West Lebanon, NH; four daughters, Carol Solimine of South Royalton, VT, Merna Blood of Woodstock, VT, Lorri Morse of Claremont, NH and Francine Shores of St. Johnsbury, VT; twenty two grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction from 5-7pm. A graveside service will be held 10am Saturday in the Branchview Cemetery in South Royalton, VT.
