Lorraine Blanchette 'Ma Tante ' was born on June 28, 1927, in Dover, New Hampshire to Adelard and Lydia (LaPointe) Blanchette. She spent almost her entire life in the home on East Street where she grew up, a testament to her deep connection to her roots and her community. Lorraine was a lifelong member of the St. Charles Church in Dover. Where she volunteered for many activities including bingo.
After graduating from Dover High School in 1945, Lorraine embarked on a 42-year career at General Electric in Somersworth, New Hampshire. Her dedication to her work was evident through her role as a meter inspector on the 5th floor. Remarkably, throughout her entire career, she chose to take the stairs instead of the elevator, showcasing her commitment and determination.
Upon her retirement, Lorraine fulfilled her dream of spending her winters in Florida. She enjoyed 36 consecutive years in Zephyrhills and more recently resided in Port St. Lucie, Florida. During her time in the Sunshine State, she embraced an active lifestyle, taking pleasure in riding her bike and achieving an impressive 10,000 miles in her first year there. Lorraine also had a deep love for nature, frequently visiting botanical gardens and Prescott Park. Her connection to nature extended to picking wild blueberries, a delightful activity that brought her much joy.
Lorraine 'Ma Tante' is survived by her sister, Marguerite Drapeau, and her dear friend, Greg (Mark) Dalzell. She also leaves behind a nephew, Dennis (Carleen) Drapeau, a niece, Elaine (Peter) Robson, along with two grandnephews, Dallas and Brendan, and a grand-niece, Stacie (Eric) Desjardins. Additionally, she is remembered by three great-nephews: Jack, Jimmy, and Vincent. Her passing is undoubtedly a significant loss for her family and loved ones.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Adelard and Lydia, as well as her siblings Raymond, Donald, and Robert. She also said goodbye to many friends and relatives who went before her.
Lorraine Blanchette 'Ma Tante' lived a long and fulfilling life, marked by dedication to her work, a love for nature, and a strong connection to her family and friends. Her legacy will continue to shine through the memories and stories shared by those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, reunited with her loved ones who have passed on before her.
