Lorna I. Helfrick, 93, entered into eternal life on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at her residence at Bath Creek Estates in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
She was born on September 7, 1927 in Akron to the late Dewey & Dorothy Graham. She was raised with her brother Malcolm who died in 1944 while serving in WWII. Lorna attended Buchtel High School and soon met the love of her life, Paul W. Helfrick, who preceded Lorna in death in 1986. They married in 1947 and became the parents of Gary (Patricia) of Fenton, MI, Paula Siedlarz of Easton, MD, Craig of N. Canton, OH, and Gayle Smedi of Cortland, OH. She was a loving and devoted mother, and she will be deeply missed by her children. She was a cherished Grandmother to Ryan & Alexandra Protos of Easton, MD, Christina (Jeremy) Simmons of Akron, OH, Nicholas Helfrick of Akron, OH, Jesse (Olivia) Smedi of Stow, OH, and Kyle & Colin Smedi of Cortland, OH; 3 great-grandchildren Kayla, Kelsey & Kendall Simmons of Akron OH; and great-greatgrandchild Forrest Fisher of Akron, OH. She was Mammaw to them all and each one of them was her "favorite" for so many reasons. They were her greatest joy, and she will be fondly remembered by them all. She was their "Queen" in the circle of life. Lorna reunites with her best friend Patsy at the heavenly gates. She also leaves behind her devoted friends Millie and Lynda, and her many extended family members in the Akron area. She was "Aunt Lorna" to them all through the many years of family celebrations and the best reunions ever. She was the last of the "originals" and it is with great sadness that she leaves us.
The family will receive friends TOMORROW Friday, April 16 from 11AM-12Noon at the Anthony Funeral Homes, Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S Main St in Akron, where funeral services will be held at 12Noon. Masks and social distancing required. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
We loved this dear lady and will cherish her memory. We were honored to witness her life and to testify to her amazing spirit. Rest in peace and God bless.
