Lorene Guest Toccoa, Georgia
Mrs. Lorene Anderson Guest, age 92 of Toccoa passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Stephens County Hospital.
A daughter of the late Julian Lawson and Hattie Lee Wheeler Anderson, she was born June 28, 1929 in Jackson County, Georgia. She was a graduate of Toccoa Falls College, attended UGA, North Georgia Tech and Athens Tech. She moved from Athens, Georgia in 1951. Her employment history included working at Wright Manufacturing Company in Training and Supervision for 15 years, working as a Clerk with the Stephens County Board of Commissioners for six years, Georgia Farm Bureau as an Insurance Agent for three years and then became the Office Manager, Secretary and Treasurer of Stephens County Farm Bureau Board of Directors for 17 years.
She attended the First Baptist Church of Toccoa for more than 60 years serving in many capacities including Sunday School Teacher, GA Leader and Director, VBS Teacher and Director and coordinator for workers for the pre-school children during worship services on Sunday mornings. She was an active member of the Pilot Club for 25 years, a member of the Down to Earth Garden Club, the Stephens County Republican Party, the Literacy Council and the Stephens County Jail Ministry.
Mrs. Guest loved God, her family, her church family, memorizing Bible passages, her public works and enjoyed bowling and gardening. She had a passion to see large number of prisoners be rehabilitated instead and returning over and over to jail. Her family, including her nieces and nephews brought her so much joy in her later years. She was enthralled by the little ones and the others as well. She gave God the glory for all the good in her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Guest in 2006, by two sons, Thomas (Tom) Guest in 1970 and Albert Dwight (Pete) Guest in 2019, by a daughter, Beatrice Guest Tench in 2020, granddaughter, Laura Guest in 2019 and by six siblings, J.P., Howard, Roy and Hoyt Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson Hanley and Marie Anderson Tupper.
Survivors include a daughter, JuJuan Guest Fuller and her husband Dilmus of Covington, Georgia; son, Ken Guest and his wife Missy of Alto, Georgia; grandchildren, Kyle (Kip) Fuller, and Craig Fuller and wife Kathie of Georgia, Andrew Fuller and wife Jean of Louisiana, Phillip Fuller of Covington, Stephanie Fuller Lee and husband Richard of California, John-Paul Fuller of Georgia, Lauren Turpin and husband Dustin of Gillsville, Lindsey Guest and Nate Guest of Alto; great-grandchildren, Kade, Audry, Danny, Faith and Hope Fuller, Wyley Anderson Turpin and Ruby Annelise Turpin all of Alto; great-great grandson, Trajan Fuller of Georgia; great-niece, Shannon Booth who lived in her home for seven years of Hall County and by her two children, Emma and Emmanual Urquia of Gwinnett County, Georgia; sister, Mildred Anderson Parham of Tennille, Georgia.
Albert Dwight (Pete) Guest, Thomas (Tom) Guest and Beatrice Guest Tench who were raised in the home of Lorene and James Guest and have preceded them in death, these are their children and her grandchildren, Todd Tench and wife Kristina of Forsyth, Georgia, Angie Tench Williams and husband Richard "Chopper", Anissa Tench Briscoe and husband Lee and Leslie Tench Crowder and husband Allen of Pike County, Georgia; their children, her great-grandchildren, Billy Tench, Michaela Tench Whitlock and husband Sam of Florida, Taylor Biang and husband Jacob, Morgan Perkins and husband Joshua and Dalton Williams, Toby Briscoe and wife Ashley, Brittany Redding and husband Michael, Jessie Briscoe and wife Brandy and Carson and Max Alley; her great-great grandchildren by them are Adleigh Perkins, Brycin Briscoe, Avalee Briscoe, Tucker Briscoe, Brennen Redding, Bryson Redding, Briscoe Redding, Kaylee Briscoe and Olivia Rose Briscoe of Pike County, Georgia' two step-great grandchildren, Hannah and Peyton Crowder; five great-great grandchildren, Serenity Whitley, Piper Whitley and Oliver, Hailey and Layla Whitley of Georgia;
Funeral services will be Monday, April 11, 2022, 2 'clock p.m. at the First Baptist Chapel Toccoa with The Reverend David Ritcey and The Reverend David Turner officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Max Alley, Nate Guest, Emmanuel Urquia, Toby Briscoe, Jessie Briscoe and Dalton Williams.
The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Monday from noon until time to leave for the service. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.
Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Lorene Anderson Guest.
