Loren was born in Elk Point, South Dakota on the old Homestead. His mother was Loretta Mae Shoop married to his father Arthur Lester Troupe. They all moved to the State of Washington.
Upon graduating from Snohomish High School in 1960, Loren joined the Army Security Agency (ASA) as a radio operator. He was stationed in the Philippines where he met his one and only wife Margaret. In 1963 after his tour of duty he brought his new wife to the United States and Snohomish, Washington. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and modeled Christ's love by his example as a devoted husband, father and servant of the Lord. He was the kindest of souls cherished by so many in the family and church. Loren retired from both the Bonneville Power Administration and the Snohomish County Public Utility District.
He was also a member of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). His radio call sign since High School days was K7GZI.
