Loren "Larry" D. Fanion, 78, of Bristol, passed peacefully Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was the loving husband of Joanne (Nigro) Fanion. Larry was born in New Britain on April 16, 1943 the son of the late Howard J. and Idelle E. (Crossley) Fanion. Larry was a proud veteran who served in the Army National Guard. He worked for many years as a mechanical designer and retired from Otis Elevator. Larry and Joanne have traveled extensively skiing the beautiful mountains in Europe, Canada and in the US, as well as hiking in many of the National Parks and canyons in the US. Larry also was an avid tennis player and enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox baseball. Besides his wife, Larry leaves sisters-in-law Geri Mongillo and her husband Rick and Valentina Therriault; brothers-in-law Andy Nigro and his wife Janet, Neil Nigro and his fianc?e Jayne Koistinen; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and Aunts Ann and Chickie Fanion. He was predeceased by his brother, LeRoy H. Fanion and by his sister and her husband Louella and Richard Sykes. Joanne would like to thank both the medical staff on F Floor and in the Cancer Care Center at Bristol Hospital for the excellent care they gave Larry. Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at O'Brien Funeral Home, 24 Lincoln Ave., Forestville/Bristol followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. All are asked to wear a face mask, even if vaccinated. Committal service and interment will follow at Lake Avenue Cemetery, corner of Lake Ave. and Cross St., Bristol. Army funeral honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers, Joanne requests memorial contributions to be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, PO Box 98018, Washington, DC 20090-8018(www.lls.org) or to a charity of the donor's choice.
