Loralee Ann (Koopsen) Phenis was born to Leon and Jean Koopsen in 1949 in Kalamazoo, MI. She died March 13, 2020 at Cornerstone Hospice in Lady Lake, Florida from brain cancer.
Loralee graduated from Gull Lake High school in 1967 and four years later from Central Michigan University. She married Gary Vorick in 1972 whom she met at her family's business, Koopsen Total Decorating Center in downtown Kalamazoo. The couple had 2 children, Andrew Michael and Ann Marie Vorick. In 1996 she married Art Phenis and in 2001 the couple moved to Florida. They have lived in The Villages (Lady Lake) since 2006 and have made a great many friends.
Loralee was a sports enthusiast, one area her competitive nature was often seen. She loved dancing, travel, pickleball games, puzzles, finding a bargain, and she had a passion for decor and DIY home projects. She had a tremendous work ethic and covered a five-state area as a rep for numerous tile companies. With over 2500 contacts in her phone, you or someone near you is bound to know her. A high energy person, Loralee was always in motion.
Loralee is survived by her husband, Art; son, Andrew Vorick; daughter, Ann Marie (Michael) Juba - both of Colorado; step-children, Charles Murphy (Jessi), Kelly McEwen (Scott), and Julie Gowda (Arjun); sister, Jasmin Cori of Colorado; brother, Thomas Koopsen of Illinois; 7 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and her mother, Jean Koopsen of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
A celebration of her life has yet to be set.
