Lois J. McKay, age 87, of Aberdeen, SD, died Monday, April 6, 2020, at Prairie Heights Healthcare in Aberdeen.
Only private family services will be held.

Lois J. Smoke was born on March 11, 1933, to Donald and Clara (Opdahl) Smoke in Devil's Lake, ND as the baby of the family. She grew up on a farm near Devil's Lake and this is where she attended school and graduated.
On December 5, 1954, Lois married Lawrence McKay at Devil's Lake Methodist Church. Together, they had one daughter, Lynn. In 1963, the family moved to Aberdeen. Lois worked for Federal Crop Insurance for many years before retiring. Lawrence died in 1995.
Lois was a kind, gentle and quite soul. She enjoyed visiting with family and loved dogs and flowers. She was a flashy lady in her younger years and was often seen wearing a dress and high heels.
In April 2015, Lois went into the nursing home. The staff at the Prairie Heights was very special to Lois and she often referred to them as "sweetie." Lois also cherished the relationship of her best friend and roommate, Irene.
Grateful for having shared Lois' life are her daughter, Lynn (Curt) Brewer; and step-grandson, Derek Brewer
Preceding Lois in death are her parents, Donald and Clara Smoke; husband, Lawrence McKay; sister, Adethe Larson; and brothers: Albert, Lloyd, and Roy Smoke.
