Lois H. Gibson passed away peacefully in the company of her children on March 23rd. She was born April 18, 1924, the daughter of Henry L. and Jesse M. Hilkene, and was a life-time resident of Indianapolis.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Thomas F. Gibson, Jr. and brother, Bruce Hilkene.
Lois was a proud member of the Shortridge HS class of 1942, and delivered her class's 50th Reunion keynote speech. She was a graduate of Indiana University - School of Business in 1946, where she played varsity tennis, was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, and became a devoted basketball fan.
She was a long-standing member of the 2nd Presbyterian Church, Junior League, The Contemporary Club, and the Riviera Club - where she went swimming the day it opened in 1933. She served on parent boards of Crooked Creek Elementary School, Westlane Jr High and North Central HS. Lois loved swimming, playing bridge and tennis - and was an Indiana State Women's 60-and-over women's single champion. Above all, Lois loved people. And she flavored all her friendships, in all walks of life, with her excellent humor.
She is survived by her children; Robert B (Gail), Thomas F III (Kim), Susan Lux (Larry), Anne Fuller (Will), Joan Miller, (Andy), 13 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 22nd at 1:00 at 2nd Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, with a gathering of friends after.
The burial service will be private. Condolences may be shared at www.murphyparks.com. Memorial contributions can be made to Boy Scout Troop 18, based at 2nd Presbyterian Church.
