Lois Jean Brown passed away peacefully on March 23, 2021 at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill, SC where she resided the last 2 months of her life. She was born to Nellie Beal and Gerald Spangler on December 21, 1935 in Ridgeley, West Virginia. Before moving to Rock Hill, SC in 1976 her family resided in Cumberland, MD. After graduating high school, Lois met the love of her life, Clay William Brown and were wed on April 2, 1955. Lois was a homemaker and her greatest joy and accomplishment was becoming a grandmother and great grandmother. She was blessed enough to be a huge part of her grandchildren's lives and was known to them as "Nanny". She was also a loving wife and mother to two daughters.
Her favorite things over the last few years were shopping at the Dollar Tree and getting her nails manicured by Michael, whom she loved dearly. She kept McDonalds in business with her love of Happy Meals and Big Macs and she loved watching Dr. Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Sherri Kinneer and Tammy Deese (Benny) both of Rock Hill, SC. She had 3 grandchildren, Todd Deese (Eddie Tapia) both of Memphis, TN, Shannon Foote (Drel) of Rock Hill, SC and Desiree Still (Jason) of North, SC. She had 4 great grandchildren Jasmine, Jayla, and Julia Foote and Nathaniel Still. Also surviving is her brother, Jack Spangler, of Cumberland, MD along with nieces, nephews and 2 sister-in-laws.
Lois is preceded in death by her spouse, Clay William Brown, her parents, Nellie and Gerald Spangler, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
The excellent care and compassion shown by the nurses, staff and administration at White Oak Manor was impeccable during such a difficult time when family couldn't visit due to the ongoing pandemic.
Service and burial will be private at Grandview Memorial Park at a later date where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
