Mrs. Lois E. "Granny Brown" Brown of Robinson, IL. was a beloved great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, wife, and daughter during her incredible 101 years of life. She passed away peacefully on December 2, 2021. We will remember Granny Brown for her unwavering devotion to her family and the Chicago Cubs, her love of all card games, especially bridge, and her outgoing nature. Lois never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed. She loved to be Granny to all.
On January 29, 1920, she was born in Annapolis, Illinois, to Delno and Edith (Brown) Stanfield. In 1940, she married Norman R. Brown in Robinson, Illinois, and two years later, their daughter Sharon M. (Brown) Evans was born. She and her husband owned and operated Robinson News Agency for many years until Norman's passing in 1977. Many would also remember Lois during her numerous years as a Sales Associate at the New Line Shop.
Lois was predeceased in death by her husband, daughter, and grandson, Sean Evans. She is survived by two grandchildren: Russell W. Evans and his wife, Traci of San Jose, CA.; Michele N. Francis of Greenville, SC; and her three great-grandchildren: Mitchell Evans, Katie, and Jack Francis. She is also survived by many cousins in the Crawford County area and Crawfordsville, IN, including Becky and Donna Beabout and Rhonda Stone, all of whom cared for her in recent years.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 11 AM at Mount Pleasant Ceremony with Rev. T. R. Akers officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that all donations be made to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Robinson, IL. Her family and many dear friends will dearly miss Lois, but we remain grateful for the many years and memories. We will always feel her presence in our hearts.
