Lois M. Black of Mount Hermon Station Road, Northfield, MA passed away on February 11, 2021.
Lois was born in Bernardston MA on July 26, 1937. She was the daughter of Francis E. Clark Sr. And Henrietta Hubbard Clark. Lois attended the Bernardston area school and the Powers Institute, receiving her GED from the Greenfield Community College.
Lois worked at the Erving Paper Mill for years, was a school bus driver for the town of Northfield and Leyden. She was the office manager for Charles R. Dean Excavating & Concrete, which she retired from after 28 years of service.
Lois was an avid gardener and took such pride in both her flower and vegetable gardens. She had quite the green thumb. She just loved working in and outside her home. Nothing ever stayed the same. You could visit one day and see wall paper on the walls and the next, the paper torn down and the walls painted in such beautiful colors and designs. The furniture never stayed in the same spot twice.
Lois enjoyed traveling with her husband and children. Later in life her & her husband traveled to many places across the country. They owned a home in Florida and spent many wonderful years there in the winter time. They made many close friendships in Florida.
Lois loved taking care of her family. There was never a time when she wasn't cooking a huge Sunday meal "just in case" family or friends showed up. The door was always open to everyone!
One of the things Lois and her husband were well known for was their love of dancing. There was never a Saturday when they weren't out painting the town. They were so good that they won an award for the Foxtrot. What the family really enjoyed was watching their parents Pokka, they just seem to float across the floor.
Lois married Ellsworth Black in 1954. She leaves her husband and their four children. Neil and his wife Carol (Terry) of Bernardston. Jeffrey and his wife Eileen of Hyde Park NY. Kris and his wife Lynn of Northfield and Kelly Jeanne Amato and her husband Tony, Jr. of Northfield.
She also leaves behind six beautiful grandchildren Lindsey, Megan, Hannah, Keith, Oliva and Jacob and six great grandchildren. Mason, Maddox, Brooklyn, John Henry, Jr (J.J.), Elaina (Ellie) and our beautiful angel above Max who was predeceased. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her five sisters, Gertrude, Dorothy, Marian, Ruth and Loretta and her brother Francis.
