Lois M. Bente, 82 of Jeferson, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Jefferson Memory Care.
She was born on November 24, 1941, in Watertown, WI, the daughter of Clarence and Hilda (Schultz) Schadt. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1959 and furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. On September 15, 1962, Lois married Victor "Vic" Bente at St. Luke's Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown. The couple had 4 children and enjoyed many activities together. Lois was a long-time and very active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Rome. She showed Christ's love for her through her acts of service. She served as church secretary at St. Luke's - Rome from 1978 - 2006, and as a leader and teacher of Sunday school, youth group, bible studies, ladies group, and older Christians group.
Lois' faith and commitment to her faith, family, community, and church family were admired by many, and she will be missed.
Lois is survived by: her husband Vic Bente of Jefferson; children Carla (John) Hinrichs of Fort Atkinson, Donna Bente of Jefferson, and David (Tracey) Bente of Jefferson; 7 grandchildren Kelly Jo, Jonathon (Alisha), Hannah (James), Christopher (Robin), Kyle (Brittany), Cassie, and Kelsee (Andrew); 12 great-grandchildren; siblings Charles (Jan) Schadt of Watertown, Jeanne (Merlin) Westphal of Jefferson, Linda (Mike) Rohr of Watertown, John Schadt of Watertown, and Tony (Karen) Schadt of Watertown. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Michelle Lynn in infancy.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Luke's Church Office Remodel Fund would be greatly appreciated.
A Christian memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Monday, May 20, 2024, St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Rome with Rev. Marilyn Lange presiding. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. She will be buried at St. Luke's Cemetery in Rome at a later date.
