Lloyd D. Marks, 91, passed away peacefully with his loving daughter by his side on Friday June 9, 2022 at Inlet Oaks Nursing Home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on September 2, 1930 in Petersburg, Virginia to the late Harold Edward Marks & Blanche Lockett Marks.
Along with his parents, Lloyd is reunited in passing with his beloved wife of over 37 years, Virginia Lee; sons, Lloyd D. Marks, Jr., Michael Marks & Jackie Marks; sisters, Geraldine Brock & Lucille Pecht; and brothers, Harold Marks, Jr., James William "Billy" Marks, Jackie H. Marks & Shirley L. Marks
Lloyd proudly served our county in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, Lloyd worked several small jobs before becoming employed by Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. Lloyd was able to retire after 30 years of dedicated service. Upon Lloyd's retirement, he was able to dedicate his time to his passion...bass fishing. Lloyd truly relished time spent with the sun warm on his face and a fishing rod in his hand. Lloyd had an outgoing personality that made it so he never met a stranger. He could make new friends anywhere he went. After living in South Carolina for several years, Lloyd loved treating and playing with all the neighborhood fur-babies and found peace watching his humming birds. Above all else, Lloyd loved his family with his whole heart. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as the conversationalist he was, and the love he had for his family and fishing.
Left to cherish Lloyd's memory are his daughters, Mary Williams and her husband, Ralph "Skip" Williams of VA & Lisa Tipton and her husband, William "Billy" Tipton of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Chance (Melissa), Whitney L. Rogers (James), Ian Williams, Blake Williams, Ryan Marks, & Justin Marks; two beautiful great-granddaughters, Haley Christine Chance & Kalyn Nicole Wynn; brother, Leverette Marks of VA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt appreciation, the kindness care and compassion shown to them and Lloyd by Ms. Melissa Kiur. You are an angel, thank you for everything.
