Lisa Derr Spaulding, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away on July 9, 2024, due to complications from cancer at the Idaho Community Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the youngest child born to Clyde Wesley and Dawna Raybold Derr on October 25, 1954, in Berkeley, California. On February 27th, 1974 she was sealed for time and eternity to Scott A Spaulding (her life-long sweet heart and best friend) in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Lisa's life was marked by a deep love for family, service to others, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She was happiest when she was with her children and grandchildren and loved being part of their lives. Being a mother and wife brought her the greatest happiness. She was actively engaged in Church service, fulfilling many ward and stake callings as president and counselor in the Relief Society, Primary, Young Women's programs and as a Ward Missionary. She worked as a temple worker with Scott for many years in the Rexburg Idaho Temple, and at the time of her death was set apart and faithfully serving as a Stake Senior Service Missionary with Scott helping to run the Addiction Recovery program in the Rexburg area. She sincerely believed in the Savior's power to heal herself and others and to help all people find lasting happiness and joy.
Lisa loved music and singing, participating in local singing groups, writing and recording original music, and frequently invited to sing in Church meetings. Homestyling and decorating was a constant passion with frequent restyling and seasonal flourishes to brighten each room. In the last few years she enjoyed pottery and other crafts.
She faced unique and difficult health challenges throughout her adult life with personal courage, optimism, and trust in God's plan for her. This gave her tremendous compassion for all she came in contact with and opened her heart to helping others in any way she could. She touched the hearts of friends and family, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Spaulding and five children: Megan Smith (Steve) of Spokane, WA; Cade Wesley Spaulding (Courtney) of Hyrum, UT; Shay Scott Spaulding (Aubrey) of Rexburg; Molly Jean Badger of San Antonio, TX; Melese Anne Miller (Kyle) of Provo, UT; 22 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild; three siblings, Clyde Brooklyn (Jill) Derr of Holladay, UT; Baron Wesley (Rhonda) Derr of Mukilteo, WA; and Tana (Dale) Thomson of Archer.
