Mrs. Linda Jane Miller Wright, 80, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away peacefully Thursday morning, January 21, 2021 at home.
She was born November 9, 1940 in Hendersonville, North Carolina to the late Johnson W. and Callie (Watts) Miller. Also preceding her in death are her brother Johnson (Jack) Miller and sister-in-law Patricia (Hill) Miller.
Growing up, Linda attended Albemarle High School (NC), Hartsville High School (SC) and graduated from Bennettsville High School (SC) in 1958.
From the time she was born, Linda had a passion for helping others which led her to her lifelong calling to become a nurse. She graduated from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital (now Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital) School of Nursing (Concord, NC) in 1961 and worked there as a Registered Nurse. From there she furthered her education in the Anesthesia school at Duke University where she became a Nurse Anesthetist. While in Anesthesia school, she joined the United States Air Force Reserve as a Flight Nurse, and served (5) years caring for sick and injured military personnel all over the world, while reaching the rank of 1st Lieutenant. She continued to work at Cabarrus Hospital until she retired in 1999 to move closer to her grandchildren in Woodstock, GA.
Linda was very active at First Baptist Church of Woodstock, especially in their Bible Study Program, Senior, and Cancer Support Groups, making many wonderful friends and participating in many activities. She especially enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family which included all her grandchildren's sporting and school activities. Additionally, genealogy was one of her favorite hobbies, and she had compiled an extensive family tree history and enjoyed sharing stories of those that came before her. She was also an avid card player and enjoyed playing all types of card games with family and friends.
Linda spent a lifetime caring for others and was an angel at heart; she never spoke an unkind word about anyone and was always optimistic no matter the obstacle in front of her. She had a sweet gentle personality with a great sense of humor and the impact to her family and friends will be felt for generations to come. Throughout her lifetime she always led by example; she taught us to be kind, patient, determined and above all always to have faith in God. At the end of her battle she said, "I am going to be okay." She was comforted and at peace and it is the greatest reminder that even in the darkest hour, we should always have faith like she did.
Linda leaves to cherish in her memory, her husband Ed Wright; children, Alan Wright, and his wife Sara, as well as her stepson Edgar Evans Wright III and his wife Virginia; Grandchildren, Evan, Libby, Amanda, Amber, Zachary, Joshua, and Andrew; and many friends from First Baptist Church of Woodstock and extended family.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at 10:00 am - 11:30 am, Friday, February 5, 2021 followed by a funeral service at 11:30 am at Woodstock Funeral Home (8855 Main Street, Woodstock GA 30188).
