Born to George and Maxine Rich in Idaho Falls, ID.
Linda was a woman who loved to sing and surround herself with music. She was an active member in both her church choirs in Omaha, NE and Rio Verde, AZ, and could often be heard singing around the home and in the car.
Raised in Aberdeen, SD, Linda graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1960. She attended Northern State College for one year before moving on to Clarkson College of Nursing in Omaha, graduating in 1964. Linda met her husband, Ron, a medical student at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, during this time and the couple married in September 1964.
Ron's medical training took them to Newport, RI, where they lived during his naval service and daughters Susan and Libby were born. Ron's residency brought the family back to Omaha in 1969 and daughter Anne was born in 1972. The family then remained in Omaha where Ron began his practice in OB-GYN.
A woman with an always warm and welcoming heart, Linda loved to surround herself with friends and family and led her life with a strong dedication to those she loved and the community around her. With her children all in school, Linda became an active volunteer in the community where her organizational and leadership skills quickly became evident serving as the President of the Westside Schools Volunteer Council, both Showhouse Chairman and President of the Omaha Symphony Guild, member of the Omaha Symphony Debutante Ball Committee, President of the Methodist Hospital Foundation Board, member of the Methodist College Board and President of the Methodist Hospital Volunteers in Partnership and was honored with their Crystal Dove award. Her leadership efforts continued even after retirement in her golf groups, book clubs and the Homeowners Association Board in their AZ retirement community.
Linda was a creative soul who became an avid knitter and quilter in her retirement life, ensuring all her grandbabies had a beautiful quilt awaiting them upon their arrival and stockings and trees skirts for each family at Christmas. She enjoyed traveling with Ron and their friends, taking in the beautiful scenery and experiences wherever she went. Recently diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, her love for her family and friends and sense of optimism never ceased.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine Rich and George Rich. She is survived by her husband, Ron; sister, Kathleen Getty; brother, Tim Rich; daughters, Susan (Andrew) McIntyre, Libby (David) Stiles and Anne (Michael) Gacek; grandchildren: Jackson McIntyre, Reid McIntyre, Marlee McIntyre, Mia Stiles, Hailey Stiles, Cooper Stiles and Janie Gacek.
