Linda Rice, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 5th, 2023. Linda was born and raised in Danville, Virginia, was a graduate of the College of William and Mary where she met the love of her life, Tom Rice. They married and moved frequently with his promotions, settling in Charlotte County in 2000.
Always eager to help others, Linda quickly became involved in community service. Some of the organizations she served were United Way, American Cancer Society, Fawcett Hospital, Harry Chaplin Food Pantries, Church of the Good Shepherd, PCHS band parents, and the Placida Homeowner's Association. Her contributions touched many lives.
Linda was an incredible hostess, generously sharing her amazing talents with decorating, floral arrangements, crafts, costumes and greatest of all, cooking! She also enjoyed travel, Rays baseball, music, the theatre and a good book.
Linda was deeply devoted to her family. She was predeceased by her parents Ben Houston Beaver and Grace Holshouser Beaver. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas James Rice, her sister Patricia Ellen Beaver, and the children she was so proud of; Kathryn (Matthew) Harrison, Thomas Johnathan (Amy) Rice, Michael Benjamin (Jane) Rice and the special joys of her life, her grandchildren John Monroe, Martha Grace, Elly, Jackson and Oliver Patrick.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00pm Saturday, September 16th at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in the Great Hall, 401 W. Henry Street, Punta Gorda.
