Linda (Lin) was born in Lexington, Kentucky February 10, 1940, to Robert William Schulz and Helen Lucille Day. Linda moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with her parents as a young child and grew up on the "south side". She attended Manual High School in Indianapolis graduating in 1958. She always had a passion for writing and wrote articles for the Manual school yearbook. After graduation from high school, she worked as editor of the Franklin Township Informer newspaper. She later worked as an advertising copy writer for the Bargain Barn, Paul Harris retail chain, Target, and the Wm. H. Block Company department store where she met her second husband, Stephen Harper, which she was married to for 34 years. Linda also had a passion for teaching and taught in the Indianapolis Public School System as a special education teacher. While raising a family and working Linda received her bachelor's degree from Indiana University.
Lin is survived by her husband Stephen Harper. Also, her brothers: John Schulz and wife Sue; Stephen Schulz and wife Ruth: sisters, Jane Haganman and Donna Baldwin and sister like Cousin Julie Schulz. Her sister-in-law, Linda Boyer and husband Phil, sister-in-law Sandy Harper. Also, her seven children: Scott Black and wife Dee, Greg Black, Jill Scanlon and husband Kevin, Cheri Dohse and husband Don, Andrew Harper and wife Susie, Scott Harper and wife Kristen, Adam Harper and wife Jessi. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren: Drew Scanlon, Conor Scanlon, Brigid Scanlon, Kasey Black, Madeline Black, Brandon Black, Robert Dougherty, Ryan Black, Madison Dohse, Allissa Dohse, Donnie Dohse, Landon Harper, Olivia Harper, Dylan Harper, Mitchel Harper, Ryan Harper, Madison Bean. Plus, great-grandchildren Lydia Black and Amirah Daugherty. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents.
