Linda Lane Ledbetter Cooksey
August 8, 1945 - February 6, 2022
Hernando - Linda Lane Ledbetter Cooksey, age 76, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Visitation will begin Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm until the service begins at 2:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN. Linda was born on August 8, 1945 in San Bernardino, CA to Edith Warrene Smith and Richard Exum "Boop" / "Booster" Ledbetter. After graduating high school in Yazoo City, MS, Linda attended MSCW for two years then transferred to the University of Mississippi where she received her Bachelors Degree in Childhood Education in 1967. She was also a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority where she held the "House President" title during her Senior Year. Her career of teaching children began right out of college and continued for 45 years. Linda loved her community and loved helping others. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hernando. She was also an active member of the Hernando's Woman's Club, Hernando Civic Garden Club, Presbyterian Women, the Prayer Ring Coordinator for the First Presbyterian Church in Hernando as well as a vital part of Congregational Care.
Linda is proceeded in death by her parents; step mother (Josephine "Bo" Ledbetter) of Yazoo City, MS; and her beloved husband, William Louis Cooksey, married 24 years upon his death.
She is survived by their three children, son Preston Clowney and his wife Jessica of Hernando, MS, daughter Tammy Harmon and her husband Ron of Madison, IN and son Mark Cooksey and his wife Shawnda of Mason, OH; their Five grandchildren, Taylor and Bryce Harmon, Jack and Grace Cooksey, and Hailey Lane Beese and her husband William of Guntersville, AL; two step sisters, Shelby Huff and her husband Tom of Oxford, MS, MaryJo C. Vandevender and her husband Lance, and step brother Seger H. Collier, JR and his wife Mary Lou of Madison, MS; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
