Lillian Marie (Yaun) Taggart of Everett, Wash. went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by her children, due to complications from a stroke. She is now reunited with her husband of 56 years, Wiard (Bill) Taggart.
Born Nov. 28, 1938 at home above a cheese factory to Fred and Mabel Yaun in Menomonie, Wis., Lillian grew up on a dairy farm not far from where she was born. She met the love of her life Wiard (Bill) Taggart in 1961 during a chance encounter at a Greyhound bus station in Chicago when she was returning to Menomonie for a visit while working as a reservation agent for Delta Airlines, and Wiard was in the Navy and going back home to Everett. They married Oct. 13, 1962 and moved to Everett where they raised five children.
Lillian greatly loved her family and lived her whole life for them, making sure they were well cared for, always putting their needs above her own. While being a stay-at-home mom for most of her children's school years she always looked for opportunities to make extra money and stretch her dollars to provide for the household, from clipping coupons and looking for the best grocery deals, to selling recycling, to helping on her children's paper routes. She was also an avid supporter of her children's and grandchildren's athletic pursuits and other extra-curricular activities.
After her children were raised Lillian worked in food service for local schools, including at Totem Lake Elementary and Glacier Peak High School, and retired in 2008, after 15 years.
A member of the former Everett Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in downtown Everett (now Madison Community Church), Lillian also loved the Lord and her church family. In her younger adult years she was a Sunday School teacher where she had the priveldge to lead many children to Christ. She also sang in the choir, was a deaconess, lead the Alliance Women's group and, more recently at Madison Community Church, helped with bookkeeping.
Lillian is survived by her children Michael (Erica), Paul, Pam (Kent) Eden, Damon (Laurie), and Nancy Taggart; grandchildren Jesselyn, Sydney and Casen Taggart, Carson and Katie Eden; step-grandsons Jake and Nick Thompson; step great-grandson Kane Thompson; sister Janet Commo, sisters-in-law Roberta Taggart, Ruth Yaun and Ruth (Jeff) Taggart-Clute; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wiard in 2018 and her brother Casper Yaun in 2019.
There will be a viewing Friday Oct. 15 from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery. A private family graveside service and burial will be Saturday morning Oct. 16, at Evergreen Cemetery. Afterward, all are invited to a memorial service at noon at Madison Community Church, 6900 Wemore Avenue in Everett. A reception at the church will follow.
