Lillian R. Brennan, 93, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the Masonic Care Community.
She was born on November 1, 1928, to John Leo Brennan and Ellen Schimmel Brennan. Lillian attended Utica Free Academy, and Utica College and the American Institute of Banking night school. Lillian worked at the Bank of Utica from 1962 until her retirement in 1988 as Vice President and Comptroller. She loved her job, the owners and her coworkers at the bank. Lillian was able to stay busy during retirement through her appointment to the City of Utica's Water Board and Civil Service and stayed through the Hanna, Julian, Roefaro and Palmieri Mayoral terms.
Many hours were spent during Lillian's lifetime volunteering for Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute and St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she received a 4,500-hour pin for hours of dedicated service
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Brennan, who was like a daughter to her; grandchildren, Erin (Keith) Forward, and Ellen (Max) Kinne; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth "Betsy" Forward, Charlie Duffy Forward; nieces and nephews, John (Patricia) Douglas, Jim (Gertrude) Brennan, Patricia (Warren) Cole, Daniel (Karen) Holmes, Gary (Susan) Holmes, Loretta Brennan, Michael (Harriet) Brennan, Ellen Douglas, their children, and a special friend, Julie Moore. Lillian was predeceased by her parents; son, Bill; brothers, Jim and Leo; sisters, Ann and Sister Rose Ellen Brennan, OSF, and a great-nephew, Brian Douglas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes Campus, 2222 Genesee St. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, in Utica.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Lillian's name may be made to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, 2209 Genesee St. Utica, NY 13501.
