Lila Mae Edwards Swann was born February 22, 1926 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Enid and Eric Edwards. She grew up in Oklahoma, graduating from Seminole High School in 1943. Lila moved to Texas in 1947. She worked as a bookkeeper at Service and Supply for several years, and later at Boys Ranch. Lila married Joe Swann on August 23, 1952 in Amarillo. They lived and worked together on the family farm east of Amarillo with Lila serving as booker. They celebrated their 68th anniversary this past August. Lila was a longtime member of Tenth Avenue Methodist Church. Recently the church merged with Trinity Methodist Church, where she was a member until her death. Lila's family was her joy, and loved time spent with them. She was a leader in her daughter's Girl Scouts troop when Lisa was young. Lila supported her children and grandchildren in their activities, and loved to attend their sporting events. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, old movies, swimming, and aerobics. She was a terrific cook, with her delicious baked goods a treat for everyone who had the good fortune to eat them. Lila is survived by her husband Joe; daughter Lisa and husband Ronnie Parkhurst of Weatherford, TX; son Jeff and wife Jill, of Amarillo; granddaughter Elizabeth and husband Gary Winks, of Borger; granddaughter Jana and husband Cody Potter, of Owasso OK; grandson Jake Swann, of Fairview TX; and great-grandchildren Gavin and Mason Cooper, of Borger, and Hudson and Olivia Potter, of Owasso. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 12, 2021 10:00AM at Memorial Park Cemetery with Heath Gaines pastor of Trinity Methodist Church officiating.
