Lewis Very Dixon was born September 25, 1929. On Wednesday, December 23, 2020, he entered into eternal rest at his residence after 91 years. He was born to Harry and Rena Dixon in Girard, Georgia as the youngest of seven children. His parents, six siblings, wife, Mamie and son, Stanley preceded him in death. Debora Dixon is the surviving beloved daughter.
Lewis loved and shared his life with Mamie V. Dixon of Murfreesboro, Tennessee in Girard, Georgia for sixty years to which two children were born: Stanley and Debora. He is a fourth generation life time member of Smith Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
He was a graduate of the Burke County School System and Boggs Academy. He served in the United States Army and returned home a Veteran of the Korean War. For a short term, he made his home in Patterson, New Jersey. Later returning home to Girard, where he continued farming with his father and established his own farm and worked until his health failed.
He leaves loving, cherished memories to: his daughter, Debora Dixon, her family; god-daughter, caretakers, Sharon Williams, her children, Antonette and Antonio Williams, her sister, Pam Allen, a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home, 404 West 8th Street, Waynesboro, Georgia. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Smith Chapel A.M.E Zion Church Cemetery, Girard, Georgia.
