Letitia A. Collins
Titia Collins, age 80, of The Villages, FL, (formerly of Syracuse, Manlius and Cazenovia, NY) passed away January 20, 2020, at Cornerstone Hospice House in Clermont, FL.
Titia was born in Syracuse, NY on June 13, 1939 to Joseph and Helen (Petosa) Errico. She attended Syracuse City Schools, graduating from Nottingham Hign School in 1956. She attended Le Moyne College in Syracuse for three years. In 1959 she married John Collins. In 1964 she received an AB degree from Syracuse University and later received a Master's degree in education from Syracuse. She was employed by the Syracuse City School District as a teacher and administrator, serving as Principal at several schools.
After retirement Titia and John sold their home overlooking Cazenovia Lake in Central New York and traveled internationally for several years. They lived in various locations, including London, Paris, Rome, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Cape Town, India, the Island of Crete and the Yucatan Peninsula, Titia often said, "It was the best thing we ever did!" In 2009 Titia and John moved to The Villages, where Titia learned to play golf, was very active in the Lakesiders Neighborhood of the Village of Pennecamp and made many friends.
Titia is survived by her husband, John, their two sons and their wives, Brian and Catherine Collins of Fairfield, CT, and Todd Collins and Elisabeth Einaudi of Palo Alto, CA, and five grandchildren, Claire, Christopher, Kenneth, Emily and Harrison. She is also survived by her sister and brother in law, Paula and Bill Reynolds of The Villages, and their children, Kathryn (Cameron) McLeod and Stephen Reynolds.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Cornerstone Hospice and to Titia's friends for their compassionate care, especially during the most difficult times of her illness. Her family will be forever grateful.
An Open House for "Remembering Titia" will be held from 2 -4 pm on Monday, February 17, at the home of Kent and Annie Strobel, 2324 Baypoint Way in The Villages. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
