Leslie "Quin" Newton, 76, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2021 in Sarasota, FL.
Quin was born in Williamsport, PA on January 5, 1945. He held a Masters degree in Education, specializing in Elementary Education. Quin's teaching career spanned over 35 years, most of which were with the Ithaca City School District where he taught for 28 years, retiring in 2001. Quin loved teaching and the kids loved him back; he was a great punster and master of 5th grade humor.
Quin loved sports, was a gifted athlete, and active in sports throughout his life. He was active in adult softball leagues well into his 70s in Sarasota, and enjoyed a good game of golf with his son or other buddies. Quin rooted for the Phillies, Flyers and Eagles; he loved music, outdoor festivals and a good day at the beach.
Quin is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ruth Newton, and sisters Kathy Bullock and Holly (Fran) Grimes.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Melissa "Liz" Seigel; his loving son, Jesse; five brothers and sisters, Jeanne (Dean) Quick, Patty (Jim) Crippen, Isabel (Ron) Kocher, Randy (Linda) Newton and Leslie "Bud" Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are through the National Cremation Society. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Memorial gifts may be made in Quin's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
