Leslie J. Kujala, 90, of Thirteenth St. died Monday August 14, 2023 at Greenfield Rehab in Greenfield. He was born in Negaunee, MI January 10, 1933 the son of Jalmer and Lillian (Jutila) Kujala. Leslie attended local school there. He enlisted in the US NAVY. He was stationed aboard the USS Ticonderoga and cruised the world. Leslie was a clerk for the Turners Falls Water Dept then went on to Strathmore Paper and retired from C & S Grocers.
He was a Life Member of The Moose where he enjoyed many activities, deep sea fishing and trips to the casinos, and spending time with his sister Marlene in Michigan. If there was a scratch ticket to be found, Leslie would find it and was in his glory! In his earlier years Leslie was an avid deer hunter.
He leaves his sons; Mathew of Turners Falls, Michael and his wife Kimberly of St. Albans, VT and his sister Marlene Romback and her husband Reuven of Negaunee, MI, several nieces and nephews, his longtime companion Maureen Steiner, and his favorite four-legged girl Memphis Mae.
Besides his parents, Leslie was predeceased by his wife the former Caroline Bukoski in 2009, a daughter Grace Kujala in 1960 his sister Ruthie and his brother Billy.
A calling hour will be held on Friday (8-18-23) from 10-11 AM at Kostanski Funeral Home 1 Kostanski Square Turners Falls MA. A graveside service will follow the calling hour at Springdale Cemetery in Tuners Falls.
