Leroy (Trey) George Taylor, III, was born on September 13, 1976, and passed away on March 4, 2025.
We are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, Trey, has taken his final bow after a courageous fight against cancer. Trey spent his childhood in Hammond, LA, and Sugar Land, TX, where he graduated from Clements High School in 1995. Trey was active in the Theater Department at Clements. With his childhood nickname of Casanova, no one who knew Trey well was surprised when he portrayed the role of Prince Charming in the official Texas Renaissance Festival Cast for several seasons. Trey attended the University of North Texas in Denton but quickly realized that college was not for him, and he went on to establish a career in the IT industry.
After working at MAN Diesel for more than 10 years, Trey left to establish two start-ups. In 2018, Trey began working at Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD). In 2020, Trey moved to Madison, Wisconsin, to join a dream team and his dream job as the Director of Digital Solutions for FMD. In this capacity, he oversaw their Research and Development Lab and shepherded several cutting-edge projects to completion.
Trey is survived by his mother, Kay Horgan Hardee of Sugar Land, TX; sister, Terrell Taylor Michael; brother-in-law, Don Michael; nephews Price and Barrett Michael; stepsister, Arianne Barker of Rosesharon, TX; aunt Jon Kemp of New Orleans, LA; uncle Porter Horgan of Baton Rouge, LA; multiple cousins and many wonderful friends who were like family, especially Danielle Barron of Madison, WI. Trey was preceded in death by his father, Roy Taylor of Galveston, TX; grandparents, Peggy and Hunter Horgan and Martha and Roy Taylor, all of Hammond, LA; stepfather, Roger Hardee of Sugar Land, TX; and uncle, the Rev. Hunter Horgan III of New Orleans, LA.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24, at 2:00 PM at Calvary Episcopal Church, 806 Thompson Road, Richmond, TX 77469. In lieu of flowers, Trey wished for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.
