Leonel L. Gonzalez was born in Monterrey, Mexico on November 28, 1946 and passed away on February 23, 2021. He was the middle son of a career Army Officer, Esteban and housewife mother, Leonarda Gonzalez. His dream of coming to America was realized when he was granted citizenship. Having had many odd jobs in his younger years, he found his calling in the Culinary Craft. He was Executive Chef in many of the finer clubs in the Houston and Louisiana area. He spent many years at the Walden Yacht Club as Executive Chef where we all enjoyed his creativity and artistic abilities. Many awards were earned over his career. He was a kind and giving man and never let anyone or anything go hungry.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Kay Gonzalez of Montgomery, TX; daughter, Mireya and husband, Robert Rachal of Conroe, TX; expected grandson, Kade Alexander Rachal; sister-in-law, Bonnie and husband, Earle Odom of Buffalo, TX; extended family, Javier and Laura Moreno and family of Conroe, TX; brothers, Antonio Gonzalez, of Conroe, TX and Esteban Gonzalez of Colima, Mexico; and other children, Perla Gonzalez, of Houston, TX and Victor Gonzalez of Houston, TX.
A Visitation will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, TX on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with burial to immediately follow at New Montgomery Cemetery in Montgomery, TX.
