Leonard was born in Clovis, New Mexico on August 5, 1946, where he spent his childhood on New Mexico farms until moving to Texas and graduating from Muleshoe High School. He attended West Texas State University until the Vietnam War interrupted his life. He proudly served his country in the Air Force and toured Vietnam and Southeast Asia on three assignments. He spent his remaining 30 years in Lubbock logging many working hours at local businesses including Tyco Fire Products.
Leonard was an avid reader, especially of science fiction and fantasy books. He was a devoted fan of Texas Tech football, basketball, and baseball and showed substantial interest in computer gaming in his retirement.
Leonard's family is holding a memorial service at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in June. To those of us who know Christ, we give honor to God for the life of Leonard Henderson and remember with gratitude his service to his family, his country, and his community.
