Leonard F. Darcy Jr., 92, passed at St. Mary's hospital in Waterbury on Oct. 18,2022 after a long illness. He was the loving husband of the late Helen (Walton) Darcy and the late Lorraine (Tomaselli) Darcy. He was pre-deceased by his sister Rosemary Darcy Greene, his son-in-law Robert E Vaillancourt, daughter Diann Darcy Patterson and his stepdaughter Angela Watrous. He is survived by his sister Patricia (Darcy) Duke and his brother, William Darcy both of Beverly Hills, Florida. He leaves behind his son Leonard F. Darcy III and wife Donna of Eagle Bridge NY. daughter Roxann Darcy Vaillancourt and longtime partner Denis of Prospect, son Patrick Darcy Sr and wife Donna of North Haven, daughter Carey Darcy Bjornberg and husband Paul of Wallingford, stepdaughters Jeanette and husband Chris Votto, Michelle Santos, Cynthia Gonzales and Gregory Watrous. Also survived by 20 grandchildren: 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Leonard was born Oct. 11,1930, in Yonkers, NY a son of the late Leonard F. and Helen (Carey) Darcy Sr. He grew up in Yonkers, graduating from Saunders Technical school in 1948 and joined the Army serving 2 years. He managed grocery stores throughout his 50 plus years in his career in both Florida and Connecticut before purchasing and running a 7-11 Store on Waterbury Road in Waterbury for over 10 years. He lived in Cheshire, CT most of his life before retiring and moving to Prospect, CT with his eldest daughter in 2021. Len was a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan and loved any winning NFL team. He loved going to Saratoga for the horse races with friends, the casino, playing cards, and simply enjoying time with his family. He would not hesitate to help anyone in need. He taught his children the meaning of hard work, loyalty and friendship. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. A graveside service with military honors was held Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022 at 11:00 am in Hillside Cemetery, Cheshire. Calling hours at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden, was held Monday, Oct. 24, 2022, from 4:00-7:00pm. www.siskbrothers.com
