Leon Wells, age 63, passed to his new life on January 13, 2021 to be with his family who were waiting for him, including his parents, Carlis and Marie Wells, sister Yvonne Chesney, brother-in-law Lee Chappell and father-in-law James Spradlin. Those of us left behind will miss him very much and cannot imagine life without him.
Leon is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sharon Wells. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Spradlin; brothers-in-law Bob Spradlin (Tina) and Terry Spradlin (Melani), and many nephews and nieces that he loved dearly.
In addition he is survived by his dear brothers and sister Roger Wells (Juanita), Doug Wells (Diane), Reva Chappell, and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
Leon was a follower of Jesus, who loved everyone he met unconditionally. He dealt with his disabilities with a patient, steady course and without complaint.
Leon's true passions were walking and UK basketball. He was in Special Olympics and traveled to the National Olympics, where he won many trophies and metals. When UK games were scheduled he wore his special team clothes and shoes, and listened simultaneously on TV and radio. He traveled to many games over the years and obtained autographs from several famous coaches. His physical handicaps did not deter him from pursuing his dreams.
In keeping with Mr. Wells wishes cremation will take place and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.
Services have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home.
