Leon Daniel (Dan) Starnes, 94, of Odessa, died peacefully on July 27, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas.
Dan was born in Graham, Texas on May 28, 1928 to Bailey and Vinia Starnes. He graduated from Perrin (Texas) High School and Odessa College. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in Europe with occupation forces after World War II. He married Jo Bess Miller on April 16, 1954. Dan retired as an Outside Plant Engineer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 39 years of service.
Dan was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church of Odessa. He and Jo Bess were avid MOJO fans and they enjoyed a mountain cabin retreat in Gallinas Canyon in New Mexico. He was a member of the Texas Society of Telephone Engineers, the American Legion and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Jo Bess Starnes. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Rosa Starnes of Lubbock and a host of nieces and nephews who all have cherished memories of quality (fun) times with a very special uncle. Uncle Dan was a superb care giver and was always available to support his family.

Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in the Chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors, with Rev. John Wamsley officiating.
Internment: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2022 in Admiral Byrd Cemetery in Baird, Texas.
The family will receive friends and family from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
