Leon (Mac) Edward McKay, 83, entered into rest on April 9, 2024.
Mr. McKay was born to the late James and Margaret McKay in Columbia, SC. He later made Augusta, GA his home where he retired from the United States Army at Fort Gordon. While serving in the military, he served a tour in Vietnam earning the Good Conduct Medal. After serving in the military, he worked and retired from WA Bragg. Mr. McKay was a man of God who was a member of Lumpkin Road Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Juanita I. McKay; daughter, Denise I. Malcom (Jeffrey); brother, Curtis McKay (Marie); grandchildren, Jeffrey M. Malcom II (Tiffany), Meagan I. Pendrey (Tyler), Morgan A. Adams (Kenneth) and Haley N. Malcom (Jonathan); and great-grandchildren, Landen, McKynlee, Madison, Addison, Blakely, Madelyn, Braidon, Carson and Kaidon.
A Funeral service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Lumpkin Road Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers who will honor Mr. McKay are Reggie Burns, Tommy North, William Watson, Clayton Watson, Mark Malcom and John Sheridan.
