Leo Jacob Friesen, 84 of Bloomington, Minnesota, passed away peacefully after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer on December 19th. He was surrounded by his entire family, including his three month old Great Granddaughter Brynlee. Leo was born July 21st, 1935 in Faribault Minnesota to Leo and Margaret Friesen. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy & Brother in-laws George & Ted.. He is survived by Arlene, his loving wife of 61 years, and his four loving daughters Pam (Mike Kretschmar), Nancy (Doug Duehn), Shari Paulson Susie (Doug Baade), Grandchildren Heather (Blake Kroyer), Marissa, Anna, Jacob (Alexys), Great Granddaughter Brynlee, Sisters, Delores and Betty (John) as well as many other family & friends.
Leo grew up in Faribault and graduated from Bethlehem Academy. After Bethlehem Academy, he served in the army. He had a long and distinguished career in the grocery business, retiring from his favorite job as General Manager at Byerly's. Leo and Arlene have wintered in The Villages, Florida for the last 20+ years. He was able to enjoy a lot of golfing, his favorite pastime.
Leo exuded warmth, honor & charisma. He made friends wherever he went. We continue to feel the love and support of the many people Leo touched throughout his life and for this we will be forever grateful. A heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff of the Villages Regional Hospital and Cornerstone Hospice for the care and understanding for Leo and our family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, July 21st, 2020, at St. Edwards Church in Bloomington, MN. More information will be available at a later date.
