A memorial Service for Leland L. "Chub" Bowyer, 85 of Lubbock, Texas will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 5th, 2018 at LakeRidge United Methodist Church with Reverend Lyndol Loyd Officiating.
Chub passed away on Friday, September 7th, 2018 in Lubbock Texas. He was born to Chester and Hattie (Belcher) Bowyer at home on September 2nd, 1933 in Kingman County, Kansas.
In 1958, he married Glenna Moore in Spivey, Kansas and they had three children, Scotty, Laura Lee and Amy Margaret.
He graduated from Kingman High School in 1951 and from Long Beach State University in 1968.
Chub served in the United States Army from 1956 until 1958, stationed in Europe. Chub proudly served as a Special Agent in the FBI for 20 years. Following his mandatory retirement, he contracted with the FBI until just last year.
An avid horseman from a young age, Chub was a professional cowboy when he met his wife. He participated in rodeos with his sister Darlene, performed a roman riding act, and travelled the country. Rodeo was his love and every year for 30 years he attended the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas with his son, Scotty.
Chub served his community by volunteering for the Lubbock Meals on Wheels Program, also serving on their Board; and serving at LakeRidge United Methodist by volunteering his time as part of their outreach programs.
Chub is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Glenna, their three children Scotty, Laura Hon (Zach), and Amy M. Youngblood (Mitch); four grandchildren; two great granddaughters, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his seven siblings and spouses as well as his grandson, Nicholas Hon.
