Lela Sue King

Church service for Lela Sue King, age 88, of Muleshoe, Texas, is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Monday, December 30, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Muleshoe with Dr. Stacy Conner of Muleshoe officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park. Lela Sue passed away Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2024 in Muleshoe. She was born March 20, 1936 in Bailey County, Texas to Joe and Minnie Mae (Roberts) Speck. She married Doyle King in Lubbock, Texas on December 6, 1958.

Lela Sue graduated from Bula High School in 1954, and was a homemaker. She and Doyle were married for 60 years, before he passed away on Christmas Day in 2018. Lela Sue was big on any organization that involved her children. She adored her children and was always active in everything they did. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were such a delight to her, and an enormous part of her heart. Lela Sue especially enjoyed vacations with her family. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Muleshoe. She is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; her parents; and two brothers, Wendell Speck and Will Speck.

Lela Sue is survived by her son, Robert King and his wife, Carrie of Amarillo, Texas; her daughter, Rhonda King of Muleshoe, Texas; four grandchildren, Steven Madrid, Timothy Madrid and his wife, Lea, Amanda Shaver and her husband, John and Ranger King and his wife, Holly; and her four great-grandchildren, Maya, Cooper, Sofia and Sadie-Belle.
